Wake me up when September ends

We all know war can be a hard time for everyone but those left behind? It can be torture. Hoping you get a letter or a call, staying glued to the television and cringing at those news stories. Guess what happens to you now? Your loved one has gone off to fight a war (battle, fight, in that ilk of things) and some time has passed. Sadly the letters and e-mails have stopped so you are left wondering the fate of your loved one. What do you do? Do you move on or are you holding on to hope they'll come back?
Warning: There are triggers inside.
1. Post as your characters (List whether you prefer to be the one left behind or the returnee).
2. Others go to RNG and roll 1-8 for a scenes then respond.
3. Feel free to make up your own scenes too!
4. Respect others' preferences!
5. Have fun!
6. Angst away!
One: You get a call, or you get a knock at the door. You are told the person you love is dead and you feel like your whole world has caved in. The healing takes time but after awhile you pick up the pieces and you've finally moved on. You've never forgotten them and you know they'd want you to be happy. Then one day you get another call and you feel like you've been punched in the gut. Surprise! Your loved one is alive and has been rescued. What do you do now? Or if you are the one returning home how do you handle knowing the person you love is with another? Do you try to get them back? Or do you let them stay happy and walk away?
Two: You are so relieved to hear that they've found your loved one. You go to the hospital to see them but when you go to kiss them they stop you. Oh...wait...they have a big chunk of their memory gone. Oh no! Can you get them to remember your lives together? Does it hurt too much that you walk away rather than deal with it? You with the memory loss do you try to find yourself letting this person guide you. Do you refuse and walk away? Are those memories ever return, or are they gone forever?
Three: They have come back safe and sound. Though they cringe away from your touch and can be a little violent. Something about them has changed because of what they've seen. They rarely sleep and when they do they wake up screaming. The intimacy seems to be gone because you can't seen to get close to them. Can you handle it? Can you work with them? Or have you had enough? Do you leave? The returnee how do you feel? Do you wish you could just hold them and be normal again? Do you seek help or think you can handle it yourself?
Four: Even before they left it was as if the love was gone between the two of you. Plans have been made to break-up or divorce but after the hell they went through? You feel obligated to stay. You try your best to rekindle what was lost but it's gone. Finally you are at the breaking point and it's time to tell your significant other that it's over. You want to end it. Either one of you has this feeling and are acting to end the charade. Ready to break it to the hometown hero or to your sweetheart that waited for you?
Five: You've lost them and it was just too much for you. People have told you to move on yet you never could. Now you get a call. They've been found but it's unclear if they'll make it. Better hurry and rush to their side just in case. You don't want them to go without you getting to tell them one last time you love them just in case. Alternately you are injured and you know it might be the end and you refuse surgery until you get to see them one last time. You want them to know you love them.
Six: You lost your other half and you still aren't over it. Might be that little one asleep in the other room that has their eyes or smile. You are always reminded of what you lost when you look at that. The sad part is you never got to tell them the good news. Never got to hear their excitement. Or maybe you had an adoption in motion and were just waiting and it happened while they were gone. It still reminds you of what you and your love had planned for their future. Then you get the call they were found, and now you are nervous. How will they get along with their child? Will they still want that life? How do you take it the first time you see your eyes when looking at the child?
Seven: Finally news comes in and they've been found and you couldn't be happier. They were injured pretty badly and had to undergo surgery. They are alive but they've lost a limb or one of their senses. How do you two deal with this? Do you try to work on it together? Do you leave unable to handle it? Or let your loved one go so they can have a normal life? It'll be a long stressful road, can the relationship survive? For better or for worse?
Eight: Make up your own if I've missed something.

Date: 2013-05-14 05:35 am (UTC)"We are not exactly certain what happened-- from all indications, your own assessment and ours, that Shadow Space was nothing out of the ordinary."
Mitsuru crossed her arms, glancing down at the floor of the room, criss crossed with wires.
"Perhaps we have become too complacent... in any case, there was some disruption towards the end of the mission, and the last thing we heard from Iori was that he needed back up. But upon our arrival..."
This was going to be the unpleasant part. Looking at Junpei, the Kirijo CEO steeled herself to the task.
"...There was no shadow space left; Junpei was laying alone in that alleyway, and... there was a great deal of blood. Enough that his healing ability wasn't able to keep up; we've had to give him a transfusion. But not only that..."
She glanced up at Aigis, hoping the android could continue the explanation.
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-14 05:52 am (UTC)"...alone..." she whispered, closing her eyes a moment to collect herself. By sheer will, she kept herself from collapsing in tears. The next pause was even worse, and she felt more dread as Aigis spoke slowly.
"...Junpei's persona has been locked away inside him. We are unsure of the cause; perhaps his injuries were so much that it went into shock." Aigis saw Fuuka's growing panic, and took a small step forward, wishing to comfort her.
"But I suspect in time it shall awaken again. Perhaps when Junpei does." Aigis glanced at Mitsuru. Fuuka looked back at the young man laying on the bed. Grasping onto the shred of hope Aigis had given her, she nodded.
"Yes...once he wakes up...everything will be fine..."

Date: 2013-05-14 06:10 am (UTC)It wasn't until close to midnight that he begun to stir. Darkness had held him tightly all that time, dead to anything and everything around him. But slowly it began to pull away, leaving him in a more natural sleeping state than that of a coma. The beeps of the machines slowly started to register in his mind, and he shifted in his bed, his eyes starting to flicker open-- only to close again quickly. Damn lights were too bright for him...
"Rgh..."
His throat was so damn dry, and he felt so tired, his arms and legs like heavy weights. W-what was going on...?
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-14 06:20 am (UTC)Aigis remained most of the time, responding gently to Fuuka's questions. Finally, she decided to leave Fuuka alone with him, knowing she wanted it. As it grew later, she fought to stay awake. But the long day had taken its toll. Within minutes, her head rested on her chin, Junpei's hand still held in her own.
Two
Date: 2013-05-14 06:27 am (UTC)What had happened to him? Where was he...?
He felt something warm on his hand, and shifted his head slightly to look... h-ha, s-someone... was holding it?
"...W-who...?"
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-14 06:38 am (UTC)"Junpei! I'm so...so glad...!" Her eyes watering, she leaned forward, gently pressing her cheek to his, hands resting on his shoulders. She really wanted to grab hold of him and hug him tight. But in his condition, that wouldn't be wise.
"...we were so worried about you..." she murmured, lightly kissing his cheek as she did so.
Two
Date: 2013-05-14 06:47 am (UTC)His eyes went wide as the girl beside him moved, pressing their cheeks together, h-her hands on his shoulders. He was pale from the loss of blood still, but his cheeks still reddened significantly from the kiss. W-what the hell? D-did he know this girl...?
"I-I..."
He shook his head gently, pulling away from the teal haird girl-- blushing all the more once he realised how... w-wow, she was pretty, but she looked so tired too, and he was all confused inside.
"I-I'm really sorry miss, but... I-I think my head is scrambled."
He gave the girl a shakey smile, but shook his head, recognition lost from his eyes.
"C-cause I guess I should... r-remember you, right?"
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-14 07:00 am (UTC)"...miss...?" she repeated, a terrible feeling growing in her stomach. Blinking the sleep from her eyes, she examined his face. He was not looking at her with love and warmth. He was being shy, and sweet, but there was no intimacy there.
Junpei's words hit her in the gut, knocking the wind from her. Slumping back into her chair, her hands dropped into her lap. Staring at him, she searched his face for some sign that this was a cruel, cruel joke, even though she knew it wasn't.
"...you don't remember me...?" she whispered, her voice cracking.
Two
Date: 2013-05-14 07:07 am (UTC)He glanced down at his hands, biting his lip. Damn, he couldn't remember much at all, come to think of it; and he had to guess whatever had landed him in the hospital was the cause of it. Man, he even had IVs in and everything...
His name bubbled up to the surface-- she had said his given name, but the family one was a bit harder. Right, he was Junpei Iori. What else, though...?
"...Was I in an accident or something?"
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-14 07:23 am (UTC)His question, at least, gave her something else to focus on. Unable to fully look him in the eyes, knowing what wouldn't be there, she nodded.
"I'm afraid so...you were very badly injured on a mission..." pausing, she wondered how much to say. Glancing at the door, she shifted. "...how...how much do you remember, Junpei?"
Reaching out again, she touched his hand, forcing a small smile. "Don't push yourself though...you still have a lot of recovering to do."
Two
Date: 2013-05-14 08:17 pm (UTC)The look he gave her was incredulous. The hell was she talking about?
"...I-I wasn't just hit by a car or somethin'? H-heh."
That sounded much more likely in his mind. He'd always had some... rotten luck... didn't he?
He shook his head slowly, closing ihs eyes in thought.
"...Not... not much. I think... A-am I still in Tatsumi Port?"
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-14 08:51 pm (UTC)Hearing his question, she looked up and nodded. "Yes...well, you're in Memorial Hospital right now. You're friends with the current owner."
As she spoke, the door opened and a worried looking Aigis glided in. Fuuka looked at her, then at Junpei, then back at her. "He's awake," Fuuka murmured, licking her lips before adding, "B-but...but he has no memories."
Aigis frowned deeply, moving quickly to Fuuka's side; she knew enough about her friend to know she was not handling this well. Putting a hand on her shoulder, the blonde cyborg looked down at Junpei, scanning him for any anomalies.
"What is your last memory, Junpei?" she asked, her brow furrowed.
Two
Date: 2013-05-14 11:16 pm (UTC)He was getting more incredulous as she continued. How the heck was he friends with an owner of a hospital? He was just a normal guy...
But that thought trailed off as someone else entered the room, his face flushing again. W-whoa, she was a major cutie...! But something about her outfit seemed off...
"W-what the... I-is that some kinda new n-nursing costume?"
He pointed--well as much as he could-- at the gloves she seemed to be wearing, and the head band thing. Blond hair and blue eyes too, not something you aw in Japan very much. He completely missed the question, too busy staring in awe of the woman.
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-14 11:44 pm (UTC)Aigis, seeing his increased heart rate and blood rush to his face, realized what was happening. It had taken a long time to reach this point, but she knew Junpei well enough to know when he was getting perverted. Or what she deemed perverted. Squeezing Fuuka's shoulder, she crossed her arms, deciding to look as intimidating as possible.
"No, it is not. Now answer my question; what is your last memory before waking up?"
Two
Date: 2013-05-14 11:49 pm (UTC)C'mon, cut him some slack! He's just woken up from an accident and again, you didn't see a blond like that in Japan every day! He frowned, trying to think for a moment.
"...I think I remember going to class? ... Am I actually in college?"
He rubbed the back of his head. He had a hard time believing that...
"E-everythin's really fuzzy... feels like I... I should be still in Highschool, y'know? But heh, that doesn't make much sense!"
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-15 01:15 am (UTC)"Perhaps in time your memories will become more solid," Aigis said, uncrossing her arms. "You have been traumatized, so it is natural you would have some memory loss. I am your friend, Aigis." Turning some, she motioned to Fuuka, "This is Fuuka Yamagishi, she is your--"
"Classmate," Fuuka interrupted, sharing a glance with Aigis before adding, "...a-and friend. We were on our way to Zoology. That's what you remember." Smiling weakly she ignored the blue eyes that burrowed into her head. She knew she shouldn't have lied, but she knew Junpei. If he knew she was his girlfriend, he would try to take care of her out of a sense of honor, not because he loved her. That would make the heartbreak she already felt unbearable.
Two
Date: 2013-05-15 01:26 am (UTC)He grimaced a moment, a fleeting image in his minds eye of deep red and light teal mixed together threw him off balance, causing his head to pain more then it already was.
"T-traumatized, huh? ..."
He looked at Aigis, nodding, but when he heard Fuuka's name...
"...Wait, weren't you that girl in E-2? I thought your hair was short though... right...?"
Glancing back at Fuuka, he tilted his head to the side. He'd only seen her a few times (Was it really just a few times?), so how were they so close...?
"...w-wait, how... what year is this?"
The gravity of the situation was finally dawning on the young man; it was beyond just not remembering a few faces; it was like huge chunks of his life were missing.
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-15 01:39 am (UTC)Watching Junpei look at her, her chest tightened, and she hoped that maybe he could see past the fog. Maybe if he stared long enough, he'd realize who she was. What they meant to each other. But the moment passed and he was asking another question. Letting out a breath, she glanced at Aigis, who had finally turned her attention back to Junpei.
The blonde responded, "The year is 2012."
Two
Date: 2013-05-15 01:51 am (UTC)She really did look cute with long hair! But then she'd been cute with short hair too, now that he was able to put a face and name to her. Yeah, he remembered her; the quiet, shy girl that was always out sick--
Junpei-kun, please be careful!
He jolted for a moment, a sudden pain ripping through his head, and his hand moved, resting against his forehead as a monitor or two reacted to the change.
"U-ugh..."
He only just heard the blond's words, looking up at her with pained eyes. H-how...?
"2012...? H-how is that...? I-I've lost 3 years...?!"
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-16 05:08 am (UTC)His compliment made Fuuka smile, though it also made her stomach hurt. She honestly just wanted to wrap him up in her arms and kiss him. But she couldn't do that when he was in such a state.
The sudden beeping of two monitors and Junpei's physical reaction wiped everything else out of her mind. Jumping up, she put her hands on his shoulder as Aigis moved to look at the screens. Fuuka looked at him, deeply concerned.
"Junpei! What happened? Are you alright?" Looking at Aigis, she hoped for some kind of explanation, but she received none. It had happened too fast. Frowning at one another, the girls both looked back at him when he realized how many years he had 'lost.' He really had forgotten everything.
Sitting down, but keeping her hand on Junpei's shoulder, Fuuka racked her brain for something to say. "...only for now, Junpei," she spoke quietly. "We'll help you, little by little. I can't...I can't understand what it is you are feeling now. But I....we're here for you. Willing to do anything for you. Anything."
Two
Date: 2013-05-16 05:37 am (UTC)"J-just my head, really hurt..."
Feeling it finally subside, Junpei looked up at the girl, glancing to see she had her hand on his shoulder still. He blushed more, not exactly sure how to deal with that, when was the last time he was touched by a girl...?
"I-I--"
He didn't get much further in his response before the door swung opened, Mitsuru Kirijo storming into the room.
"What's going on here? Why wasn't I notified that he was awake?!"
She seemed to be barking that to the researcher near her, who ducked a bit. Falling asleep infront of the monitors had been a bad idea...
Meanwhile, Junpei could only stare at the firey red-head, gobsmacked. T-that was Mitsuru Kirijo, right? THE Mitsuru Kirijo? ... W-what was she doing here?! I-In his hospital room?!
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-16 02:36 pm (UTC)Fuuka jumped as Mitsuru burst in, instinctively standing up; though they were friends, the red head had a very dominating presence. She felt for the man Mitsuru was yelling at, and waved a hand, "I-it only just happened , Mitsuru, he has not been awake long," she said, glancing at the researcher. Aigis nodded in confirmation.
Looking down at Junpei, Fuuka noticed how he seemed awe struck with his latest visitor. She couldn't really blame him, she was sometimes in awe of her herself. Still, she couldn't say that a twinge of jealousy didn't pinch her insides. Moving a bit closer to Junpei, she turned her attention back to the Kirijo president.
"He also...he has no memories if the last three years," just saying it aloud made her want to cry. But she held it together. Perhaps Mitsuru would know what to do.
Two
Date: 2013-05-18 07:05 am (UTC)"Be that as it may, this is a serious issue, not just for us personally, but for the organization as well. I can not have anyone sleeping on the job."
She gave a another look to the researcher, before waving them off with a low 'get back to your station.' Turning back towards her three friends, Mitsuru's eyes scrutinized the situation, listening. The look was careful, and concerned, evaluating what was going on. When she spoke, that angerfilled tone was gone, replaced with a gentler one.
"Is that so, Iori?"
"...Uh."
His face was red again, and he glanced down. W-what the hell happened to him that he'd be friends with Mitsuru Kirijo of all people? How did that work out? Deciding that leaving her waiting would be a bad idea, he closed his eyes, trying to think back, to remember anything...
"I-I remember the start of the first day of ... second year, I think? But after that, it's all a blur..."
He opened one eye again, looking up at the towering red head with a sheepish expression.
"Were... w-were we really friends? C-cause I mean, you're kinda like... the idol of the school, y'know?"
Mitsuru's expression fell, and she released a deep sigh as Junpei quickly closed his eye again, preparing to be reprimanded. Instead, that gentle tone continued, though with a hint of frustration at the very edge.
"Yes, we are friends, Iori. And you have several more waiting to know what's happening to you. I take it if you can only remember the bare beginning of your second year, you do not remember what lead to us becoming friends, and all that's related to it."
She glanced over at Fuuka, now understanding her own expressions. It had taken some time to recognize it while they were in the dorm, but she could tell the young woman was near a breaking point. Unfortunately, Mitsuru realised she might have to put more stress on the girl.
"And because of that, unfortunately, we can't leave you unsupervised, even upon release from the hospital."
"W-wha?!"
Junpei started, eyes opened wide and staring at his... senpai? Supervisor? S-something?
"W-what do you mean by that, Kirijo-senpai?"
Re: Two
Date: 2013-05-23 08:00 pm (UTC)Listening to Junpei recall his last memory made Fuuka catch her breath; she couldn't believe he had forgotten so much. Lost so much. He was the same Junpei she loved, and yet was different. He couldn't even imagine being friends with Mitsuru, let alone that he had once fought along side her.
'He doesn't remember Minato...' she realized, watching him as he fumbled over his words. How she wanted to embrace him, and kiss his face. She wanted to promise him that things would be alright, and she would carry him through whatever lay ahead. But she couldn't. He wouldn't understand why.
Lost in her own thoughts, she had to take a second to understand what Mitsuru had said. Turning to her, she furrowed her brow a moment, before it hit her. Of course it made sense on a practical level, but it would also spare an explanation of why Junpei and her shared a flat. Fumbling over her own words now, she said, "I-I can do that, Mitsuru! I-I mean...it would be the most practical option."
Glancing at Junpei, she gave his shoulder a squeeze and a quick smile. "I'm a very good observer, and...well, since we are..." she struggled to think of a word, "...classmates, I can help you get back into a routine again." It was weak reasoning, but it was all she could think of.

Date: 2013-06-26 04:04 am (UTC)"I appreciate your volunteering, Yamagishi. I'll get my team to work on that toni--"
"W-wait a second!!"
Pausing midsentence, Mitsuru turned to see Junpei sitting up in bed completely, his face a brilliant red, even though the rest of him was getting deathly pale.
"Y-you're... y-you're gonna ... F-Fuuka-san and me in the same apartment?!"
Oh god, you could see the steam coming out his ears, as well as the total shock. Oooh god, oh god L-living in the same apartment as a girl?! He... h-how could he do that? It was one thing to have a dorm or somethin' but an apartment meant s-sharing a f-futon o-or the bath tub or...
Realising he was panicking infront of three women, he swallowed it down, trying to get his voice level again-- though it cracked here and there. He was feeling kinda light headed too.
"I-I mean, uh I-I-I appreciate it, b-but y'know, I-I don't wanna... im...pose..."
Really... lightheaded. So much so that some of the monitors around him reacted as he fell back against his pillow, suddenly overcome by nausea. S-shit, this was humiliating...!
Re: Two
Date: 2013-06-26 04:38 am (UTC)As he fell back, however, she stood up, a hand pressing to his forehead. "You feel warm," she murmured, worry etched across his face. Aigis examined the monitors, nodding to herself before saying, "It doesn't appear serious, though medication is recommended."
Fuuka nodded, knowing Mitsuru and her team would waste no time in taking care of him. "You don't have to worry about imposing, Junpei..." she said softly, "It would be my pleasure to help you, if only for a short time." Swallowing back the lump her throat she forced a small smile, "Besides, it isn't as if we'll be sharing a bed or anything." She couldn't believe she had said that, it just made her hurt more. But maybe it would ease his nerves...maybe.
Two
Date: 2013-07-03 02:40 am (UTC)Junpei's brain buzzed, his thoughts becoming hard to focus on as he felt all the more light headed. The mention of the word 'bed' only made his face redder, and he wished he had the energy to pull his blanket up over his head and just hide. L-living with a girl...
"B-but..."
"No buts, Iori," Mitsuru interrupted him, her expression tight. She understood his reactions, but the last thing she needed with Fuuka to break down due to his unintentioned callousness, "You and Yamagishi will be staying with one another upon your release from the hospital--"
Mitsuru would go on for a minute or so, until she and the rest of the ones in the room realised that the young man had passed out cold; mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted.
Re: Two
Date: 2013-07-22 11:37 pm (UTC)~A week later~
"Well...here we are," Fuuka said with a nervous smile, standing in front of their apartment. Of course, to Junpei, it was just hers, and she had made sure it would appear so. With more tears then she was prepared for, she had put away their photos, all of his personal affects, and anything that suggested more than one person had ever lived here. The only photo of them she had been unable to put away was the group shot of SEES. Surely that one would be alright. 'Might even be helpful,' she had thought.
Opening the door, she stepped in first, waiting for Junpei to follow before closing it. Various shades of blue could be seen through out the apartment--furniture, wall color, kitchen appliances--giving the place a cool and relaxing feeling. She had been sure to light some candles of his favorite scent, hoping to ease his nerves.
"...I hope you like it," she said softly, looking over the living space. It looked empty and lonesome without Junpei's little messes or his photos sitting on the tables. Looking back at him, it felt even more lonely, knowing he wasn't that man anymore.
"Can I get you anything to drink?" she asked, smiling at him, playing nervously with the bottom of her shirt.
Two
Date: 2013-07-23 12:52 am (UTC)Welp, that started off swell, didn't it? After a week of being stuck in a hospital bed, you'd think that he'd be eager to leave-- and he was!-- but with the thought of living with a girl once he was released dwelling on his mind, his nerves were rattled.
The whole situation was strange. He'd managed to piece together he was part of some weird organization that other people he'd gone to school with (including Yuka-tan, really?) that... did something, fought something, that was so secretive he couldn't be alone. And now he had to stay with Fuuka Yamagishi to make sure he didn't blab something to the general public, or... explode, or something. He wasn't sure what.
Walking in after her, he looked around the apartment. It was... really big, actually, for just one person, especially in Japan, he noted. He liked the choice of colour, but there was a smell in the air that struck him as... really familiar. Lavender popped into his head, as he realised that was the scent, one that... followed him around--
"U-uh?"
He looked over to Fuuka as she spoke again, offering her a sheepish grin.
"O-oh, yeah, it's pretty awesome! Big too..."
Hope she didn't notice him drifting off a second there, but at her offer for a drink, he nodded.
"Uh, sure, that would be cool!"
He didn't have a bag with much of his stuff in it, since most of his junk was apparently moved into the apartment before hand. Probably still in boxes somewhere. Should he look around for it...?
"So, uh, y-you really got a nice place here..."
Was this what people working for this 'organization' could live in?
Re: Two
Date: 2013-07-25 04:49 am (UTC)Before he had finished speaking, she had pulled out a soda from the fridge, opened it and walking back to hand it to him.
"Here you go," she said with a small smile. She decided to get one for herself too, just to have something to do with her hands.
"Thank you...I hope you enjoy staying here. I want this to be your home too...w-when you're staying here," she said dropping her gaze a moment before continuing. "If there's anything you need or want, don't hesitate to ask."
Tapping her fingers against her soda can, she began to move down a short hall way that lead to the two bedrooms. Keeping her eyes away from their bedroom, she took him into the guest room. It was simple, and a blank slate. "Here's your room, Junpei. Some of your things are over there," she motioned to two boxes sitting beside the bed. Inside were items she, and Mitsuru, had deemed fit for him to have; nothing that might clue him into the reality of the situation. At least not yet.
Two
Date: 2013-07-25 05:17 am (UTC)That was lucky of her to know his favor kinda soda. And she'd already opened it for him, geez... He didn't want this to turn into her being some sort of maid for him--
Uh, shit. Push that thought away for now, that was making him feel a bit warm.
He followed Fuuka down the hall, noting where everything was-- whoa, they had two bedrooms in this place?? Stopping infront of the small room that would be his own. Oh good, they wouldn't need to sleep in the same room...
... Why did he feel disappointed about that? Well, beside obvious reasons of course.
"So you guys grabbed my stuff, huh?"
He slipped into the room, setting his can of pop on the floor before reaching into the boxes.
"Was I living with my--" He paused for a moment-- no, he didn't want to talk to this girl about his family issues (were they still issues now though?) so best to avoid it-- "Uh, Family, still?"
No need for her to know about his dad and mom's situation, right?
Re: Two
Date: 2013-07-26 04:01 am (UTC)'Because they will return. They have to.'
"Yes, what we thought you would need anyway. If you think of something we might have forgotten, I can see about getting it for you," she said with a smile, thinking of the rest of his things, crammed into their closet and under their bed. Sitting down on the bed, she watched him begin to look into the boxes, her heart aching. Not being able to hold him or be as close to him was more painful than she ever thought possible. Rubbing her hands on her legs, she straightened up at his question.
Opening her mouth, she paused, remembering what Junpei had told her, and what she had seen. She had met his father a hand full of times, and he seemed to like her well enough. But it was difficult to like a man who she knew had hit her beloved. Thinking of how to answer, she shook her head.
"No...you were living with a room mate," she answered, knowing she was walking a fine line. "You haven't lived at home for quite awhile. You moved into some dorms in high school, which is how you know Mitsuru and myself. After that though, you got...a room mate." Shifting, she realized mentioning a room mate was a bad idea. Dropping hints about who this 'room mate' was, was probably not going to end well.

It was funny though, why didn't the roommate show up at the hospital when he was knocked out? You'd think whoever it was would care enough about him to check up on how he was doing!
He paused though, glancing back at Fuuka with a frown.
"So wait, we already sorta lived together? Heh, man, I must have seemed like a -real- dumbass when I freaked out then earlier..."
Then again, a dorm situation was different than a shared apartment, right?

He's been very busy...but we've kept him informed on how you're doing," she said with a small smile, making a note to tell Mitsuru to get Kenji in the loop. Though how she was going to convince him...Fuuka didn't want to know. "I'm sure you'll get to see him soon enough."
At his remark about them 'sorta' living together, she laughed nervously, fiddling with her hair some. "N-no, not at all! You don't remember it so...so you can't help how you reacted. Besides...it's a sign of your gentlemanly nature."
Glancing at him a bit shyly, she blushed. It felt weird, trying to flirt with him. It sounded so awkward. Dropping her gaze, she stood up, straightening out her dress.
"Well, I suppose I shall...let you get to it. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. I'll be in the kitchen if you need me," bowing her head, she headed for the door.

Seems like Fuuka struck gold on that excuse.
"He's probably busy chasin' after teachers skirts... or did he move onto professors now?"
He remembered Kenji well enough; the guy was okay, but they weren't exactly best friends or anything. Just someone nice to talk to... though he kept skipping out on him whenever they went to get ramen. Kinda jerkish behavior, really.
His face went bright red, glancing up at Fuuka. G-gentlemanly? Who the hell told her -that-?
"A-ahaha, y-you sure about that? You haven't talked to Yuka-tan much then. She'd probably call me, like, 'the poster boy for sexual harassment' or something like that."
...Wow, w-why did he say that? His nerves must be getting the best of him, and he waved his arms quickly, as if to dismiss the idea.
"N-n-n-not that I'd do anything like that, ever! I-I swear! I-I, um..."
Shit, she was going away...
"I-.. y-you don't have to leave if you don't want to, I Um... shit."
Well, this was just dandy, wasn't it?

His comment about Yukari sent her back to when she had first met them; the strawberry blonde had really been ruthless back then. Well, she was ruthless now too...but there was a fondness there. At least Fuuka thought so.
Gazing at him, she wanted to gather him up in her arms and reassure him that he didn't need to feel embarrassed. That she loved him entirely, fumbling words and all. Instead, she smiled at him, tilting her head some.
"...I know you never would, Junpei. You're the kindest man I know." Her cheeks glowed pink as she bowed her head. Taking a breath, she looked at him again, her smile broader now. "How about I make us some sandwiches, and then I can help you sort through your things?"

He couldn't help but smile back at her, especailly at the suggestion of food.
"T-that would be awesome! I'd love some, Fuuka-chan!"
Oooh man, homecooking from a cute girl? How could he say no?!

Date: 2013-08-20 07:13 am (UTC)Once in the kitchen she pulled out some cream cheese, bread, and the cucumber she had bought earlier that week. Cutting it up into slices, she hummed to herself; the pieces were a bit thick, but at least she didn't cut herself. Smearing the cream cheese onto the bread, she made sure there was plenty on both. Finally, she placed four slices in each sandwich before putting the second bread on top.
Pleased with her work, slightly messy though it was, she put them on two plates, and headed back into the guest room. Smiling as she walked in, she handed Junpei his plate.
"Here you go, Junpei. It's cucumber and cream cheese; nothing fancy, but I hope you like it."

Date: 2013-08-20 07:28 am (UTC)But uh, what about his... 'adult' stuff? He cringed at the thought of people like Fuuka or Mitsuru finding that, even though he'd acknowledge it was pretty tame. S-still, where was it? Left back at his old apartment--
His thought was cut off short as Fuuka's footsteps hit his ears, and he turned on her approach, tossing down a (newer) issue of Shonen Jump.
"Oooh, hey! Nice! I'm not really one for fancy stuff anyway. Thanks a lot, Fuuka-chan!"
He grinned at her, bowing his head in thanks before picking up the sandwich and taking a bite.
Huh. The cucumber slices were kinda thick and there was a LOT of cream cheese, but hey, it was still good.
"So do you --"whoops, speaking with his mouth full, Junpei quickly swallowed and continued-- "Cook at home a lot?"
He hadn't noticed from his chewing that a slice of cucumber had fallen from the sandwich to his thigh.

Date: 2013-08-20 10:39 am (UTC)When started his question, she was already looking at him, and saw the cucumber fall into his lap. Her body reacted without a thought, her hand immediately reaching out and picking the cucumber off of him.
It wasn't until she was distributing it onto his plate that she realized how intimate a gesture that had been. Thighs were places for couples' hands, not acquaintances. And Junpei barely viewed her a more than a classmate now.
Dropping her hand to her lap, she turned her head, "Sorry! I forget sometimes," she started her heart aching, "that...not everyone needs to be mothered," she ended her excuse lamely, wondering if she should be punished more for lying or for telling really terrible lies.
Laughing some to brush it off she answered his question quickly. "I cook as much as I can. It's a passion of mine, though I'm not very good at it."
